Grade 1 Digital Rock Collection (December- January) 1st grade students will create a digital rock collection in PIXIE, using digital photos and narration to share their findings.
Grade 5 Book Reviews in a Glog (Feb) 5th grade students used a program called, Glogster to create an online poster that described a book they were reading.
Kindergarten Graphs (April - May) Kindergarten students will be learning to use the software program called, Graph Club to share results of their data collection. They will create a graph showing the number of tanks and cages they counted for their Math at the Pet Shop project.
Grade 3 Math at the Snack Shop (year long) Third grade students are participating in an exciting real-world math project called Math at the Snack Shop.
Students organize and operate a snack shop before school and practice making change as
customers purchase their snacks. They also practice math
skills by taking inventory each week and tallying what needs to be
purchased for restocking. They track their sales and produce reports in Microsoft Excel to
share with the class. Proceeds from the snack shop will go to our
community partner Feed My Starving Children.
Grade 4 Pond Study (year long) 4th grade students conduct a year long study of nearby Rice Lake. In December they participate in an online collaborative project called, Bucket Buddies to share their data with others. Listen to podcasts about their monthly trips to the pond at Radio on the Edge.
Grade 3 Crayfish Investigations (March - April) 3rd graders are exploring the science unit called, Structures of Life. In this unit they will conduct investigations with crayfish and share their lab reports in an imovie.
Grade 6 Clay Animation (March -April) 6th graders begin to learn how animation works and create a clay animation to demonstrate a health or science concept.
Grade 2 Weather Watchers (year long) Students make daily weather observations and graph the results using a program called, Graph Club.
Grade 2 Ocean Odyssey (Jan - Feb) 2nd graders at Weaver Lake take part in a webquest adventure to build an ocean aquarium at our school. It is every 2nd graders' task to research an ocean animal to determine what it needs to survive in our aquarium.
